Belong was Australia’s first carbon neutral mobile & internet, but only 8% of Australians understood that mobile networks create CO2.
So we got Deloitte economists to math out exactly how much CO2 is created by 1 MB of mobile data. Then used that formula to show people their Carbon Thumbprint: the environmental impact of their data.
Carbon Thumbprint became a recognised environmental measure by domestic telco regulators. Belong gained 95,000 new customers. And they offset 135,000 tonnes of CO2 in their first year.
